Summer is almost upon us.
The weather is slowly improving, and some better days are definitely ahead of us. We’re supposed to see some temperatures north of 20°C. [Featured Image: Christchurch Council].
So, obviously it’s time to wander around the great outdoors. And, there are few better places around Christchurch to scratch that itch than Hagley Park.
Hagley Park is the largest open space in the centre of Christchurch, and has been open as a public park since 1885. You’ll find a number of different spots around the park that make it the perfect spot for a day out with the family.
It’s 165 hectares, and boasts a wonderful surrounding woodland as well as lakes to walk beside. There’s even yachts available if you want to take to the waters!
In addition, if you’re looking to get fit this summer, this is a top location to carry out the grind. There’s tennis courts, netball courts and even an entire golf course. Plus, all those hectares of green swathes make it an unbeatable spot for all the runners and cyclists of Christchurch.
If you’re after a bit more leisure, you could always hit the cafes around the park to take some rest from a lovely walk. As the weather heats up, you can, of course, take a picnic with you to make an entire day out at Hagley Park.
Also, with all the space and a number of playgrounds, it’s ideal for both children and dogs to have their best day ever! It’s the beating heart of the city and you should be all over it, as many of you already are, this summer.
