Street Bowls was first concepted by British Chef Daniel Morbey in Dunedin in 2019. Wonderfully, Morbey brought his guilt-free and indulgent street bowls food truck to Christchurch in 2021.
With a different location schedule weekly, you’ll have to check their Facebook and Instagram page for updates. For instance, Street Bowls can be often found in Rangiora Market, Ohoka Farmers Market, New Brighton Seaside Market and Rolleston Food Truck Market, to name a few.
Expect a range of delicious vegan and gluten-free street food bowls for $15 and other bites such as Rosemary & Chili Polenta Chips ($6.50) and Cauliflower Bites ($7.50) served with peanut butter satay.
The star of the menu is obviously the indulgent gluten-free and vegan bowls. Think Bang Bang Bowl with crispy tofu, vermicelli noodle salad, beansprouts, spring onion, peanut sesame sauce and more. Meanwhile, the Prima Doner with spiced Moroccan falafel, roasted pepper hummus and garlic chili sauce is a real crowd-pleaser. Our personal favourite has to be The Santa Fe vegan nachos. Consisting of chipotle cauliflower wings, lemon herb, quinoa, corn kernals, black beans, cheddar cheese and avocado atop of aioli and corn ships. What a masterpiece!
Certainly, Street Bowls offers the perfect guilt-free creations to try out this week in Christchurch.
