Posh Porridge first launched in 2010 as a small stall at Christchurch Farmers Market. Fast forward 12 years and it’s a cult-favourite at Montreal Street for indulging on delicious breakfast bowls in Christchurch.
The menu changes monthly but enthusiasts will love the top-notch porridge bowls using organic steel-cut oats from Ashburton, smothered in homemade toppings. Customer favourites include Rhubarb Raspberry & Gingernut, complete with dark chocolate and vanilla bean custard, vegan Banana Berry with maple almond buckwheat granola, pure maple syrup and Boysenberry chia compote. Meanwhile, those with a sweet tooth can enjoy Raspberry White Chocolate.
Additionally, there’s two variations of overnight Bircher Bowls made with oat milk and grated apple which are wholesome. For instance, the vegan Coffee Bircher muesli with blackcurrant compote, vanilla coconut whip, Fix & Fogg coffee maple peanut butter and coconut granola is a serious crowd-pleaser.
Delightfully, coffee lovers can refuel with hearty supreme coffee, while there’s an array of pastries and the best donuts available from one of our favourite bakeries, Grizzly Baked Goods, at the café. During the summer, they also offer a scrumptious range of pancakes at the Market stall.
Certainly, Posh Porridge is an ideal wakeup call on a sleepy winter morning in Christchurch. Excellently, you can still find them at the Farmers Market every weekend.
