Can you find all of them?
As you may have noticed, penguin sculptures have been appearing around the city of Christchurch for the past few months.
As of yesterday (November 30), the 120th and final penguin has been put on display, marking its completition. So, if you want a fun activity, why not try and check off every single one while they’re up?
Christchurch boasts 50 large penguins and 65 little ones as part of the Pop Up Penguins Learning Programme. Each penguin has a different design, painted on by a mix of Christchurch artists and schoolchildren.
Headed up by four team members, the project included 52 sponsers and supporters, 46 artists and 65 schools to create the dazzling 120 penguins. The designs will aim to raise awareness for themes like themes like climate change, community, Antarctica, creativity, innovation and exploration.
To find them all, residents will have the help of a map detailing all their spots. They’re here for the next nine weeks, and will then be gone after a lovely farewell event in February. Once they come down, they will be auctioned off to raise money for Cholmondeley Children’s Centre.
Have a waddle around Christchurch searching for these beauties and pick out your favourite design.
