Add this floating burger bar to your summer wishlist.
On September 24, Lake Dunstan will become home to New Zealand’s first-ever floating burger bar. Brought to you by the same folks behind Coffee Afloat, this new business venture is about to make your trip to Lake Dunstan a whole lot more exciting.
Burger Afloat will be located midway on the 53km Lake Dunstan Cycle & Walking Trail in Central Otago, right next to the magnificent Coffee Afloat. Already, they serve adventurists with delightful barista coffees, ice cream, baked goods, and more. Wonderfully, you’ll have the best of both worlds to fuel you up on your next adventure. Check out the sneak peak video below.
Expect some scrumptious smashed burgers, topped with a brioche bun, which includes local ingredients like lettuce, pinot picked onions, swiss cheese, slow smoked bacon, apricot relish, to name a few. Indeed, it’s a fantastic boost midway through your journey, and let’s not forget about the Maori history, culture, vineyards, and more, you’ll appreciate along the way.
Admirably, the brains behind both ventures are friendly locals, Richard and Jolanda Foale, who have been providing walkers and cyclists with a much-needed caffeine boost for some time now.
Unfortunately, you’ll have to add this to your summer bucket list because it’s 5 hours drive from Christchurch. For more information, visit the Coffee Afloat website. Alternatively, check out their Facebook page for the latest updates.
