First opened in 2021, Austin Club is a secret basement cocktail bar sweeping locals, who are lucky enough to have found it, off their feet.
Hidden in a laneway on High Street, customers must enter a secret password to open a door in an archway, then pass by a hipster graffiti staircase, to reach the instagrammable cocktail bar.
The funky bar is complete with untouched concrete brick walls, neon signs, leather couches and velvet curtains, featuring mostly jazz and swing tunes, which adds to the New York-style 20th century post-war ambience. Certainly, a cosy date idea in Christchurch.
Customers can expect a range of unique cocktails and other beverages as the business thrives on quirky creations. For instance, each cocktail comes in a exotic glass or cup inspired by a 20th century novel. Think Excellent Women ($20) a gin concoction in a chalice, The Lion The Witch & The Wardrobe ($19) with aperol, gin, mint soda and watermelon and Cat In The Hat ($19) with strawberry and lemongrass rum, to name a few.
Additionally, those who get hungry will be impressed by the bar menu. For example, shared platters such as the Cheese Board ($18+) or Charcuterie Board ($35) and toasted sandwiches make an excellent pairing.
Absolutely, Austin Club offers a delightful night out paired with dazzling cocktails and live music in Christchurch. Wonderfully, Austin Club opens till 3am in Christchurch.
